Location Of Dublin Airport

Heading to Dublin Airport (DUB)? It's just 10 kilometres, or 6.2 miles, north of Dublin city centre and easily accessible via the M1 motorway or the M50 toll road. You can get there in as little as 20 minutes if you're driving from Dublin City! If you don't have your own set of wheels, you can take the Airlink 747 bus from Dublin city centre to the airport, via Heuston station. Plus, by 2020 there will be a new north runway for reducing delays and allowing airlines to expand their services. And that's not all - plans are underway for a Metro rail link too! History Of Dublin Airport

Wow! Dublin Airport (DUB) has seen some famous faces over the years - from Frank Sinatra and Pierce Brosnan to Bono and Colin Farrell. JFK even dropped by in 1963, then Pope John Paul II stopped in for a visit back in 1979. Which Terminal?

Dublin Airport is the home base of Aer Lingus, the country's own airline, as well as Ryanair - a low-cost option. If you're taking a short-haul or regional flight, head to Terminal 1; if your journey is longer, you'll be using Terminal 2. The only exception is Aer Lingus which handles both short and long-haul flights out of T2.

How To Get To Dublin Airport

Car

If you're heading to the airport, it's easiest to take Junction 2 of the M1. Then just follow the signs for the terminals and car parks - short-term and long-term. Be aware that the M50 gets really busy during peak times, so give yourself plenty of extra time if you're travelling at those times.

Train

DUB is yet to have its own rail link, but plans for a Metro link station have been approved and it's expected to be operational by 2026/27.

Bus And Coach

Aircoach offers 24-hour service to and from Dublin Airport from several locations in Dublin city centre and South Dublin. It generally takes about 25-30 minutes to get there, although it can take longer during peak times. The buses run every 15 or 30 minutes, so check out the timetables for more details!

When To Arrive

You should check-in at least 90 minutes before a European flight and three hours before a long-haul flight if you're going through Dublin Airport's US preclearance. Also, add an extra 30 minutes if you are using one of the car parks. The check-in desks in Terminal 1 are located on the first floor while those in Terminal 2 are located on the ground floor. Don't be late, or you could miss your flight!

Pick-ups And Drop-offs

If you're picking someone up from the airport, it's best to use one of the short-term car parks nearby as there is no waiting allowed outside either terminal. Any cars left unattended will be towed away. So remember, when dropping off and collecting at the airport - use the designated parking areas!

If you need to switch flights at Dublin Airport, it's just a five minute walk between Terminals 1 and 2. If all your flights are on the same ticket, head straight for the Flight Connections desk – they'll have someone on hand to help you out. Plus, there's an app called DUBHUB that can assist with connecting flights! If you're self-connecting, you'll have to grab your bags from the Baggage Hall and check in for your next flight.
