Halifax Airport And Parking: Everything You Need To Know
An Introduction To Halifax Airport Parking
At Halifax Stanfield Airport, all parking bays are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, pre-bookings are not available for parking. On top of that, the rates stated on the YHZ website already include 15% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). So you don't have to worry about any extra costs!
Hourly Parking
Looking for a short-term parking option at the airport? Head to levels P1 and P2 of the Parkade multi-story lot. There you'll find hourly parking signs that will take you to an appropriate space - no need to worry about a maximum daily charge! It's perfect for quick stops.
Daily Parking
Looking for a short-term parking spot at YHZ Airport? Look no further than the Terminal Exterior Parking Lot, located just a few steps away from the terminal. This convenient option is perfect for those only needing to park their car for a short while - with daily fees and maximum weekly rates that are quite reasonable. For those planning a longer stay, there are daily parking areas on levels P1-P4. Just follow the signs to find your spot and pay standard rates by the 30 or 60 minute period, plus maximum daily and weekly fees. The maximum weekly fee is slightly higher than in the Terminal Exterior Parking Lot, but still quite affordable. So get parked up at YHZ today!
Long-term Parking
If you're looking for budget-friendly long-term parking near the terminal, Park'N'Fly on Barnes Drive is the place to go. It's a few minutes away and offers free 24/7 shuttle service. Stays are minimum of 24 hours but it has the lowest daily and weekly rates on site! So why not park your car there for an extended period of time? It's easy, convenient and great value for money.

History Of Halifax Stanfield Airport
Halifax International Airport first opened its doors in 1960, when it was clear the city needed a suitable airport to keep up with the booming commercial activities. Since then, it's grown from serving 180,000 passengers annually to over 3.5 million today! After 9/11 the airport played an integral role in Operation Yellow Ribbon; they took over 40 planes to provide a safe haven and divert them away from US airspace. In 2005, the airport was renamed Halifax Stanfield in honour of Nova Scotia's 17th Premier, Robert L. Stanfield, and in 2010 it celebrated 50 years with a $550 million renovation. This included expansions to the arrivals area, overhauls of the taxiways and runways, and road updates for smoother traffic flow. Wow - what a history!
