Ontario International Airport History
Ontario International Airport has been around since before World War II and in 1967, it became managed and operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Airports (LAWA). The City of Los Angeles took sole ownership of ONT in 1985, but then in 2016, control went back to The City of Ontario - now run by the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA). It's a medium hub full service airport, with two departure terminals covering 570,000 square feet combined, an international arrivals terminal and 26 passenger gates. Plus there are two parallel runways that measure 10,200 and 12,200 feet long - ideal for both passenger activities and air freight operations. Pretty impressive!
