Grab a taxi on the lower levels (level 1) of both terminals A and B - it'll take around 20 minutes to get downtown. If you'd prefer public transport, catch the Lynx bus 11 or 51 from stops A38-A41. Bus 11 departs every 30 minutes and takes around 35-40 minutes to get downtown. Bus 51 leaves every 60 minutes, and takes about 50 minutes to reach your destination. History Of Orlando International Airport
Orlando Airport has quite the history! It was established in 1942 as McCoy Air Force Base, used by the military for bombing and navigation competitions. In 1974, it gained joint civil-military use, and then international status in 1976. Since then, it has seen incredible expansion which is still continuing today to keep up with its high passenger demand - it was designed for 23 million passengers, but now serves almost double that. So if you're heading to or from Orlando Airport, you know it's been through a lot of changes to get where it is today!
Orlando Airport Facilities
At Orlando Airport, you have so much to choose from - eating, drinking, shopping and services. The building is laid out symmetrically with a main atrium in the middle, each side (A & B) divided into two halves (1&2 and 3&4 respectively). If you're looking for something to eat or drink, then head to the main terminal (Level 3) landside. Here you'll find loads of restaurants, plus a shopping mall with souvenirs, clothes and more. The airside terminals have fewer options than the older sections of the terminal though (1 & 3). Don't forget about all the other services available too - free Wi-Fi all over the airport, and a Business Center at the Hyatt Regency if you need to get some work done. Plus there's an amazing Art Collection displayed throughout the terminal which is worth checking out if you have time. Have fun exploring!

Useful Tips
Arrive 2-3 Hours Before Your Flight
If you're traveling through Orlando International Airport, be aware that the wait times can be a bit long! Security screening usually has queues of around an hour and then you have to take a tram to get to airside. Check-in can also be lengthy, so it's best to arrive for your flight at least two hours before departure to avoid stress. Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be the lightest travel days, so those are usually your best bet if you have flexibility. But whatever day of the week it is, give yourself plenty of extra time just in case!
Pay Attention To The Terminal
Are you having trouble finding the right service at Orlando International Airport? With its symmetrical layout and main landside concourse, it can be tricky to know which side of airside you need. Don't worry - just double-check if it's Side A or Side B before you go! That way, whether it’s parking, baggage reclaim or taking a transport service, you'll know exactly where to go. Happy travels!
A 24-hour Airport Doesn’t Mean 24-hour Services
The airport is open around the clock, but most of the shops and restaurants close early – some as early as 6pm. So if you need to pick something up before your flight, make sure to plan ahead!
Download The App
The Orlando Airport app is a great download - it gives you all the info you need while travelling! You can use it to find out where to park, where your flight counter is and what the status of your flight is. Plus, it also shows you where to eat and shop around the airport, as well as letting you tune into the MCO radio station. It's a great way to navigate the airport too!
