Location Of Sacramento Airport
Sacramento Airport is just a breeze away, located 10 miles (16 kilometers) north west of central Sacramento. It's connected to I-5 highway to the north west and south, as well as the I-80 to the north east and south west. You can take an hourly bus service from the airport into town or take a taxi. SuperShuttle (aka the "Blue Van") is available for larger groups, and Uber, Lyft and Wingz all have dedicated pick up points. So no matter how you want to get there, getting to the airport won't be a hassle!
History Of Sacramento Airport
Sacramento International Airport opened on October 21, 1967 and replaced Sacramento Municipal Airport (now Sacramento Executive Airport). It was initially a small airport serving only five airlines. But when a second runway was constructed in 1987, more airlines like America West and Continental Airlines were enticed to join up. The airport got its official new name of Sacramento International Airport when the new Terminal A building opened in 1999. It was only three years later though that it got its first international flight. And in 2011, a brand-new Terminal B opened - three times bigger than the old one, with lots of restaurants and leisure options. The airport's services keep on growing as new routes replace those that don't work out.

There are also tons of great shopping opportunities - fashion boutiques, jewelers, electronics stores and more. And don't forget the art! Useful Tips
Leave Yourself Plenty Of Time
Heading to Sacramento Airport? Make sure you get there with plenty of time! The airport recommends that all passengers arrive two hours before their flight, whether it's a domestic or international one. It gets especially busy between 5am and 7am, 12pm and 2pm, and 6pm and 8pm - so if your flight falls into one of those time slots, you may want to give yourself even more time. Don't miss your flight - plan ahead and arrive early!
Ensure You Pick The Right Parking Lot For Your Vehicle
Are you driving a car, motorcycle or truck to Sacramento Airport? All of the parking lots accept these vehicles, but be aware that the Parking Garage has a vertical clearance of eight feet two inches (2.5 meters). If your vehicle is taller than this, it's best to park in one of the other lots. Additionally, if your vehicle is longer than 21 feet (6.4 meters), you will be charged double the listed rate.
Save Money With The Free Waiting Area
If you're dropping someone off or picking someone up at Sacramento International Airport and don't need to leave your car, the Cell Phone Lot is perfect for you! It's right near the I-5 entrance/exit, so it's super easy to get in and out of both terminals. The only downside is that there's a three-hour time limit. But you'll save yourself a lot of money and energy not having to pay for parking or circle the airport looking for a spot! And if you have an electric vehicle, there are DC fast-charging stations and L2 chargers available so you can charge it up while you're waiting. So why not take advantage of the Cell Phone Lot and make your trip to the airport stress-free!
