An Introduction To Tampa Airport Parking
Heading to Tampa Airport? You have a few parking options. Valet and short- or long-term garages are right near the terminal buildings. There's also an economy garage and lot with free shuttle service that runs 24/7, and a cell phone lot about five minutes away. Plus, electric vehicle charging stations and preferred spaces for cars powered by bio-diesel, CNG, hydrogen and electric or hybrid-electric. Not to mention plenty of off-site lots with shuttle buses and valet services. So you're sure to find the perfect parking spot for your needs! But don't forget to factor the cost into your trip budget. Be sure to do some research ahead of time so you can find the most affordable option!
Picking Up And Dropping Off
Pick-up and drop-off zones for public transportation, taxis, and services like Uber are clearly marked right outside the airport terminal. If you want to leave your car while seeing someone off, there's also a short-term parking garage on the side of the terminal. Plus, there's a cell phone lot near the economy parking where you can wait for free if you're picking up someone from arrivals, but they have to clear baggage reclaim first.
Short-term Parking
Need a space to park for just a short time? Look no further than the parking garage attached to the main terminal! It's just a few seconds away from the entrance, perfect for those dropping off friends or flying out for only a couple of days. Hourly parking spaces are available here. Enjoy your stay!
Valet Parking
If you're flying out of TPA, why not take advantage of the valet parking service? Just drive your car up to the curb outside the terminal and a friendly valet will take care of parking it for you. And if you're coming back late at night, there's a 24-hour drop-off area inside the short-term garage - you'll be able to walk back to the terminal in no time! So why not make the start of your trip stress-free with valet parking at Tampa International Airport? It's the perfect way to begin your journey.
Long-term Parking
Looking for long-term daily parking? The parking garage just across from the main terminal and parking building has you covered. It's got the convenience of being close to the terminal, either by walking or taking the free monorail shuttle, plus it's charged at a lower rate than other daily parking spots. Perfect!
Economy Parking
Economy parking is a great option for travelers looking to save some money. It's located a short distance from the terminal building and you can take free shuttle buses to get back and forth. It may take a few extra minutes compared to other options, but it's still just a few minutes away on the regular shuttles. So it's a great way to save some money while still getting where you need to go.
Park And Ride
If you're looking for parking at Tampa International Airport, there are lots of options both on-site and off-site. The on-site option is a valet service, while the off-site option is a Park and Ride system. This means that you find your own space in an off-site lot and then catch a complimentary shuttle bus to the airport that takes less than 10 minutes. It's a bit less convenient, but usually the most affordable option.

History Of Tampa Airport
Tampa International Airport has come a long way since it first opened in 1928 as Drew Field. Back then, Peter O Knight Airport was more popular, but during World War II the property and facilities were expanded so much that it soon became the primary commercial airport for the region. In the 1950s flights to Canada began and Drew Field was officially renamed Tampa International Airport. Fast forward to 1965, when the first design for a new terminal was proposed - one that separated airside from landside with central terminals leading to concourses and gates and a built-in people-mover infrastructure. It's now the same layout we see at almost every modern airport, but Tampa was the first to try it. The new facilities opened in 1971 and since then there has been constant development and expansion, with airsides being remodeled, concourses refurbished and shuttle trains modernized. Now the airport is looking at a capacity of 25 million passengers, with plans to increase that up to 50 million as demand continues to grow. So, if you’ve been through Tampa Airport recently, you can be sure it won't stay the same for long!
