These interstates connect all the way from Phoenix out to Los Angeles, Tucson and Flagstaff. There are also taxi, limo and shared-ride services if you don't have a car. History Of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has been around since 1928 - back then it was the fourth airfield in Phoenix, with American Airlines offering the first passenger flights. In the late 1930s, TWA joined them and things started to expand. A control tower, two runways and a passenger terminal were all built in the 1950s which helped attract more carriers and routes. They adjusted the runways to run parallel to each other in order to avoid cross-winds and added two more terminals as the airport grew in popularity.America West Airlines had a great first year at PHX, while Southwest set up their largest maintenance facility there. After that, passenger numbers just kept going up which led to the construction of Terminal 4. To keep up with this growth, the runways and Terminals 3 & 4 have all been recently refurbished, plus there's now a PHX Sky Train connecting all the terminals.
